Serhenry Miller Obituary

Serhenry Kenral Miller departed this life February 20, 2022 at his home in Columbia, SC. The son of Kenroy Miller and Sharmaine Ferguson Miller, Serhenry was born in Freeport, Bahamas in 1994. He moved to the United States in 2005 where he was reared by his father and second mother, Dr. Chiquita Miller.

Serhenry attended primary school in Nassau, Bahamas, and later was a student in North Carolina's Mooresville Graded School District. In 2012 when the family relocated to Rock Hill, SC, he attended South Pointe High School where he graduated in 2013. An avid athlete at Mooresville High and South Pointe, he lettered in football, cross-country, and track. Serhenry also demonstrated strong academic prowess earning a full presidential scholarship to Alabama State University in Montgomery, Ala.

While Serhenry excelled in sports, his true passion was expressing his inner thoughts and feelings through music and poetry. For several years, he served as the drummer for Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church where his father pastored. Often describing himself as a “lyrical genius”, Serhenry aspired to do more in the music industry.

Above all, Serhenry had a profound love for family. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.  Aside from his parents, he will be sorely missed by his three siblings, Kenroy Miller II (Phoenix, Ariz.); LeeAnn Miller (Rock Hill, SC), and Kendrick Miller (Rock Hill, SC); his grandparents, Overseer Leyvon Miller, Sr. (Nassau, Bahamas), Betty Perdue (Rock Hill, SC); Arthur and Gwendolyn Emanuel (Atlanta, Ga.) and Keva Curtis (Nassau, Bahamas); seven aunts residing in the Bahamas, Maria Christie, Geraldine Lewis (Edmund), Deanne Dean, Naomi Lewis (Pastor Wendell), Winsome Miller (Anton), Monica Campbell (Jay), and Debra Rhodes (Melvin); three aunts in Atlanta, Ga., Detra Lawrence (Pastor Derrick), Deneen Furlow (Minister Anthony), and Latresa Allen (Casey); five uncles in the Bahamas, Bishop Franklyn Miller (Cassie), Apostle Kelson Miller (Aleacha), Michael Miller, Mitchell Miller, and Jean Sears; and one uncle in York, SC, Marcus Scott.  Serhenry also had two very special friends who were dear to him, Troy Eckles and Dontrez Patterson, and numerous great-aunts, great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives who grieve his loss.
