John Ruben Westley was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Pruitt Ridgeway in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Being obedient to the will of God, he went to his heavenly home. John was born on December 12, 1936 in Chester County, South Carolina the son of Agnes Wesley. John was affectionately known to family and friends as “Stagger Lee”.
Confessing Christ at an early age he joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He was educated in the Chester County Public Schools. After, High School he moved to New York. While in New York he became a member of First Baptist Church Aston , Queens, New York where he was known as Reverend John Westley. He worked for several years as a Correctional Officers and retired after 20 of working for Ben’s Auto Parts. At Ben’s he was a dedicated worker and was loved by his co-workers.
John was preceded in death by his mother Agnes Wesley; his five siblings, Helen Wesley Hooper, Matthew Wesley, Albert Wesley, Sr., Sallie Wesley Singfield and Herbert Young.
John Ruben “Stagger Lee” Westley leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Percylia Westley, of New York; oldest niece Eva Chester, of Chester, SC; sister-in-law Doris Young, High Point, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews ,great nieces and great nephews; also numerous of children he reared from Chester to New York; caregiver Albert Wesley.
