THE JOURNEY OF A LIFE WELL LIVED
John Bernard Stroud, beloved son of the late Robert Stroud, Sr. and Osie B. Gaston Stroud, was born on January 28, 1968 in Chester, SC. He peacefully departed this life on August 1, 2023, at his home, leaving behind cherished memories and a void that will never be filled.
Bernard received his education in the Chester County Public Schools, where he developed a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. However, it was his unwavering faith and acceptance of Christ as his personal savior that truly shaped his character. He became a devoted member of Love and Charity Baptist Church, where his commitment to serving others was evident through his involvement in various ministries. John selflessly served as a member of the usher board, pastors’ aide, trustee board, and he lent his beautiful voice to the senior choir.
Beyond his devotion to his church, Bernard was also known for his impeccable fashion sense. He had an innate ability to effortlessly put together stunning outfits, earning him the reputation of a sharp dresser. His style was a reflection of his vibrant personality and zest for life.
Bernard's jovial spirit and infectious sense of humor endeared him to everyone he encountered. He had an uncanny ability to light up a room and bring joy to those around him. His presence was enough to turn any gathering into a celebration, and his laughter was contagious. Bernard's ability to find humor in any situation was a gift he generously shared with all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Osie B. Stroud; two brothers, Robert Stroud, Jr., and Agurs Stroud; one nephew Sammy Cornelius, Jr.
He is survived by his four sisters, Lydia Stroud, Richburg, SC, Renee Stroud, Chester, SC, Angela Stroud, Rock Hill, SC and Shameeka (Sammy) Cornelius, Winnsboro, SC; one brother Reverend Jeffery (Alberta) Stroud, Richburg, SC; one sister-in-law Joanne Stroud; three aunts, Willa Mae Stroud, Harrisburg, PA, Eloise Gaston, Great Falls, SC and Patricia Stroud, Richburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In his passing, Bernard leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a genuine care for others. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the beautiful memories he has left behind. Bernard will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John Bernard Stroud's memory will forever remain in our hearts, as we carry his spirit with us. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his impact on our lives will never be forgotten.
