With sorrowful hearts we are sad to announce the death of our beloved Ethel B. Wallace Owens. Ethel passed on September 11, 2021 at her home 511 Johnson Street in Chester, South Carolina.
Ethel Beatrice Owens, daughter of the late Alfred Wallace Sr. and Hattie M. (Degraffenreid) Wallace, was born September 26, 1938, in Chester, South Carolina.
Educated in the Chester County School System, Ethel graduated from Finley High School, Class of 1956. She retired from the Chester County School District. Ethel was a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie and grandmother. She lived a very humble and modest life. To know Ethel was to love her. Ethel was the eldest of eleven (11) siblings. At an early age, Ethel responded to the invitation to accept Christ as her Savior at Antioch Baptist Church, Blackstock, South Carolina. Ethel united in holy matrimony to James Robert Owens and from that union five (5) children were born.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Wallace; daughter Lorraine Owens, one sister Margaret Wallace McCullough, two brothers Tommy Wallace and Charles H. Wallace, and one granddaughter Roddria Owens.
Ethel leaves to cherish her memory: a beloved and devoted husband James Robert Owens of Chester SC, four sons, Tony Wallace, Harrisburg, PA, Mark Owens, Columbia, SC, Robert Owens, Niles, Ohio, and Rodney Owens, Chester, SC., four grandchildren, Markilra Owens, Lancaster, SC, Layah Owens, Charleston, SC, Nayah Owens, Chester, SC, Cadolphi Chisholm, Chester, SC; three brothers, Alfred Wallace, Jr, Boonton, NJ, Freddie Wallace (Roberta), Sayresville, NJ, Eugene Wallace (Geraldine), Harrisburg, PA; four sisters Bernice Frederick, Las Vegas, NV, Bessie Wallace, Harrisburg, PA, Joanne Watson (Milton), Harrisburg, PA, Anita Washington (Clarence), Harrisburg, PA, two Sister-in-Laws Shirley Wallace and Sharon Sims, two brother-in-laws Eric Goods and Neal Kaham; close and devoted friend Rose Edwards, and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and Friends.
