Carl Eugene Smith

On Tuesday April 5, 2022, Carl Eugene aka “Mookie” Smith took his greatest leap of faith. Carl Eugene Smith affectionately known as “Mookie” was the son of the late Eloise Smith Minter and the late Aaron Patterson. Mookie was born on May 3rd, 1953, in Mooresville, NC, surrounded by his family he took his greatest leap of on April 5, 2022.

Mookie was educated in the CMS school system, he graduated from West Charlotte high school. Mookie was a proud alumnus of Dub “C”, where he played basketball. Mookie was employed by Sun Chemical for 30 plus years. In 2015 he went to work at Nations Ford Chemical were worked as a Chemical Operator where he later retired from.

Mookie was married to the late Marion Smith, who proceeded him in death in 2003. Mookie was the “LIFE” of the party wherever he went, when Mookie entered the room you knew Mookie was there. Mookie never met a stranger, his laugh was contagious, he loved his family and he

loved his baby girl “JESSICA” we called her, his twin. Mookie enjoyed playing corn holes, phase 10, scratch offs, and spades. Mookie loved sports and he loved attending sporting events. He was a die-hard Indianapolis Colts, Carolina Tar Heels and Los Angeles Dodger’s fan.

Mookie gave his life to Christ at an early age, he was a member of Omega Outreach Ministry in Clover, SC where he served as an Usher and, a Deacon.

Mookie leaves to cherish his memories, his children: son Devan Smith of Charlotte, NC, Daughter Jessica Brittany Smith of Charlotte, NC Son Raheem Dunlap (Denver, CO), Fiancé Loree Pressly of the home. Brother, Kermit Smith of Charlotte, NC. Brother-in-law of Charlotte. Uncle Floyd Smith (Raleigh, NC) God-Children Crystal Nash and Ronnera Nash and a host of Niece, Nephews and Cousins.
