In Loving Memory of Zy'Derec Ny'sean Massey
August 26, 2007 – June 27, 2025
Zy'Derec Ny'sean Massey, age 17, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 27, 2025. Born August 26, 2007, Zy'Derec was a loving son, devoted brother, and a quiet soul who touched the hearts of everyone he encountered with his gentle spirit and radiant smile.
A native of Rock Hill, Zy'Derec was the beloved son of Linda Massey and Anthony Dunham. He was raised in a close-knit family where love, faith, and connection were the foundation. He was a humble young man who carried himself with grace beyond his years, always putting family and faith first.
Zy'Derec attended Northwestern High School where he was a proud member of the junior varsity football team. His passion for football began early in life, playing for the youth league Cowboys and the Rockburg Elite football team. His athleticism was matched only by his love of fishing and his loyalty to his favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Off the field, Zy'Derec was known for being respectful, soft-spoken, and grounded in his relationship with God.
He had a deep love for his family and treasured time spent with those he held dear. His bond with his siblings, his devotion to his parents, and his love for his niece and soon-to-arrive nephew brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Helen Massey and Patricia Ann Taylor; grandfathers, John Lewis Dunham and Earl Dean Taylor; and his uncle, Joe Dunham.
Zy'Derec leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Linda Massey and Anthony Dunham; his brothers, Shonquavious Young, Ka'lijah Davis, and Ke'andre Knox; his sisters, Lai'lani Massey and Akilah Gregory; his grandparents, Lillie Mae Dunham and Jim Henry Massey, Sr.; aunts, Mattie Dunham, Ida Massey, and Tara Massey; uncles, Marvin Dunham and Jim Henry Massey, Jr.; his niece, Sarah Carter; and his unborn nephew, Ny'sean Knox.
Zy'Derec will be remembered for his kind heart, his bright smile that could light up a room, and the peaceful presence he brought wherever he went. Though his time on earth was short, his impact was deep and lasting.
Please keep the Massey and Dunham families in your prayers during this time of sorrow.
