Mrs. Evonne Bridges Pegues, of 119 Holly Street, Cheraw, South Carolina, entered eternal rest on January 2, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee.

Mrs. Pegues was the beloved wife of Hugh Pegues and a devoted mother to Desmond (Michelle) Pegues, Sr., Anthony Lee (Adam Welti) Pegues and Latashia Harris. Evonne was the proud grandmother to Gabrielle (Christopher) Joseph, Desmond Pegues, Jr., Janasia Belk, and Sa'Riah Smith  and great grandmother to Kinslee Lynnelle Joseph. Evonne also leaves behind a beloved sister Reverend Minnie Chapman and her loving  mother-in-law Ruth Baskin.

She was the loving daughter of the late George Bridges and the late Sarah Funderburk Bridges. She was preceeded in death by her brother Rochelle Bridges.

Evonne had a deep passion for cooking and decorating, but above all, she cherished her family. Her love for family was evident in everything she did. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of Goodman Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she loved her church and served faithfully.

The family will receive friends at her residence.
