Ms. Della Jean Howze of 4435Wylies Mill Road in Edgemoor, South Carolina died on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at her home. She was born in Chester County, South Carolina on December 15, 1934 the daughter of the late Roosevelt Howze and the late Annie Bell Crockett Howze.  She graduate from Finley High School, Johnson C. Smith University and Drexel University and attened Wintrop College and retired from the Chester County Public Schools where she taught in Great Falls, South Carolina.  She was a devoted member of Red Oak AME Zion Church where she served as a Missionary, Pastor Executive Secretary and Class Leader.  She was also a faithful member of the Chester County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is survived by four devoted sisters: Annie Frances Howze of Irmo, SC , Mary Dantzler, Rosa Booker both of Charlotte, N.C. and Elizabeth (Norman) Dorn of Edgefield, SC; a devoted nephew James (Ann) Howze of Charlotte, NC; three sisters-in-law: Mamie Howze of Great Falls, SC, Helen Howze of Lancaster, SC and Burlessie Howze of Flordia; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Red Oak AME Zion Church with the Pastor Ralphael Gadson, presiding, and Rev. Charles Crockett, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vernon AME Zion Church Cemetery in Fort Lawn, SC. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., will hold the Omega Omega Service at 6:00 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the funeral home. Viewing will be at the funeral home from 3:00-7:00 PM at the funeral on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 and at Red Oak AME Zion Church on Wednesday, May , 2013 from 1:00PM until the hour of the service.
