IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carrie May
(Jasper) Brown
May 28, 1947 – December 18, 2024
Carrie May Jasper Brown was born May 28, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, through the miracle of a C-section, the daughter of Nathaniel and Hilda Alberta Chapman Jasper Rutledge. Carrie May Jasper Brown lived in four states, loved cruising, and wanted to help people spiritually, academically, and in any way she could with her time or resources.
She retired after 41 years at Westinghouse Electric Company LLC in different roles in a field she loved, Human Resources. She spent her entire early learning at Gladstone and eventually earned a degree in Human Resources from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's degree in HR at the University of Phoenix.
Over the years, she met many, many people with different skills, needs, wants and situations. Although she was not adventurous, she loved exploring new places, people, and things. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, and watching television, and she served God in any capacity where she could use the gifts given to her by Him through the Holy Spirit. As a Christian woman, she wanted people to tap into their Spiritual Gift(s) and encouraged people to use them.
She served in various capacities at the churches she attended, from ushering to working with and for the congregations. She was one of the founding members of JOY (Jesus, Others, Yourself) and a deaconess at Freedom Temple Ministries under the tutelage of Bishop Herbert C. Crump. Her favorite bible verse was the 23rd Psalm, verse 1, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" because she sincerely believed He would take care of her needs. She witnessed the magnificent transformation in her life when she noted the many blessings He bestowed upon her through the valleys and mountains in her life.
She had two sisters, Thelma and Louise, who left life at an early age. She is survived by her daughter, Natalie C. Brown; great-nieces Nikki Kelly, Junnette Peters (Black), and Annette Winters (Michael), who are the daughters of her late niece, Dee Dee. She also leaves behind their children and grandchildren, who carry on her legacy of love and family.
Her Godson, William Jackson, his wife Tabatha, and their daughters, Katelyn and Sydney, held a special place in her heart. She will also be deeply missed by a large and loving community of extended family, including nieces, nephews, sister-friends, and close colleagues from every city she called home.
She believed she was surrounded by people who loved her and realized the desires of her heart was to help others. She left this world knowing that all was right with her soul – Love Lifted Her.
